Profile
Jana Miller is a director with the health care group of CLA focused on regulatory and reimbursement-related consulting. Jana has worked for nonprofit health systems and in public accounting. She has experience performing audits of health care providers and Medicaid-managed care plans for government healthcare agencies and has a background in the preparation and review of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, DSH surveys, and other regulatory reports.
Technical Experience
- More than 15 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and regulatory/reimbursement consulting dedicated to the health care industry
- Preparation of annual cost reports for various provider types including academic medical centers, critical access hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and federally qualified health centers
- Performed a variety of reviews, examinations, and audits of Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care data including detailed claims testing to assess Medicaid eligibility, patient liability, claims overpayments/underpayments, and systemic issues causing claim denials or incorrect reimbursement for all provider types
- Has prepared numerous Medicaid DSH surveys and examination reports in multiple states
- Reviewed contracts between providers, health plans, and states to determine that payments, policies, and procedures were appropriately applied and advised health plans and state Medicaid agencies on contract language revisions
- Assisted in the development of state medical loss ratio procedures and instructions

Education
Jana graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree as an Accounting major. She continued her education at Baker University earning her Master's in Business Administration with a concentration on Healthcare Administration. Jana is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Missouri.
