2:45 – 3:35 p.m. | Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence

Speaker: Zoran Jovic

1 credit Information Technology

Program Description: Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing how cybercriminals operate. Attackers can now identify targets more quickly, craft more convincing communications, and scale fraud with far less effort than in the past. As a result, traditional signals of suspicious activity are becoming less reliable, placing greater pressure on people, security controls, and business processes.

This session explores how AI amplifies cyber-attacks and financial fraud, particularly in environments where trust is critical and resources are limited. Through a realistic demonstration, attendees will see how public information, AI generated content, and identity based attacks combine to create real business risk.

The session also introduces the concept of “Zero Trust” in practical terms, focusing on how people and organizations can reduce exposure through stronger identity controls, improved verification practices, and clear AI usage boundaries.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how AI is increasing the speed, realism, and scale of cyber-attacks.
  • Recognize common AI-related cyber risks: shadow AI, data exposure, prompt injections, hallucinations, and over‑reliance on AI outputs.
  • Recognize how security controls like password managers and multifactor authentication are no longer sufficient.
  • List simple behaviors and governance practices that can reduce the likelihood and impact of cyber incidents.
