Connecting standards, strategy, and day‑to‑day practice
The NACUBO 2026 Higher Education Accounting Forum brings together higher education accounting and finance leaders for three days of focused, practical discussion on the issues shaping campus financial reporting today.
Designed for experienced professionals, the forum goes beyond high‑level updates to dig into how new and emerging guidance shows up in real institutional settings.
Attendees can expect sessions covering current FASB and GASB developments, financial statement presentation and disclosures, grants and Uniform Guidance considerations, tax and endowment topics, and case studies that highlight how peer institutions are handling complex accounting questions.
The program blends technical updates with applied examples and peer exchange, giving participants clear takeaways they can bring back to their teams — from clarifying reporting requirements to strengthening internal processes and judgment calls.

Data to Decisions: Case Studies in Academic Program Economics and Resource Optimization
CLA speakers: Anthony Pember, Leah Lindstrom
This session will demonstrate how a clear view of program- and department-level costs, revenues, and margins can transform decision-making in higher education. Presenters will explain how these insights support launching new programs, budgeting and planning, resource allocation, administrative review, and campus master planning.
Using case studies from two institutions, they will compare different approaches to cost and revenue modeling and the results each achieved.
The session will also highlight common obstacles, practical solutions, and how analytics are being used — or planned — to enable data-driven decisions. Participants will leave with actionable ideas to begin or strengthen cost and revenue analytics at their own institutions.
