1:40 – 2:30 p.m. — Streamlining Back-Office Functions: The Month-End Close

Recommended CPE: 1 credit Accounting

Speakers: TBD

Program description: A strong month-end close process is the backbone of an accounting function that delivers timely, accurate, relevant information to your nonprofit’s leadership to inform management decisions. And yet, for many nonprofits, instituting a solid process is often backburnered for the fires we all run into daily.

In this session, learn ways to structure your month-end close, options to introduce automation and technology to the process, ideas to balance strong controls with efficiency, and options for how to use that extra time to add value through dashboards, analytical tools, and more.

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize the key components to a strong month-end close process
  • Identify ways to introduce or enhance technology used in your process for greater efficiency
  • Recognize how you might use the time saved in an efficient process to introduce analysis, forecasting, and more
2:30 – 2:40 p.m. — Wellness break

2:40 – 3:30 p.m. — AI: Practical Use Cases for Nonprofits

Recommended CPE: 1 credit Information Technology

Speakers: TBD

Program description: Artificial intelligence is no longer theoretical for nonprofits. This session highlights practical AI use cases across nonprofit operations and individual workflows, with a focus on real efficiencies — not hype. Participants will leave with clear examples and a realistic starting point for using AI responsibly in their organization or day-to-day work.

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize the different types of AI
  • Identify practical AI use cases for nonprofit organizations
  • List ways AI could benefit your nonprofit organization and your day-to-day work
3:30 – 4:20 p.m. — Anatomy of Fraud

Recommended CPE: 1 credit Behavioral Ethics

Speakers: TBD

Program description: Fraud rarely unfolds in a straight line — and when it hits, every decision matters. In this fast-paced, real-life case walk-through, we’ll follow a fraud incident from the first red flag through containment, investigation, recovery, and resolution. Along the way, we’ll connect the dots across the full ecosystem: internal controls, banking relationships, insurance considerations, reporting requirements, and the communications that can help protect trust with leadership, boards, and stakeholders. You’ll leave with a practical roadmap for responding quickly, coordinating the right partners, and strengthening defenses to reduce the risk of the next incident.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify common fraud indicators and the key response steps from detection through resolution, including escalation, documentation, and coordination with internal and external parties
  • Describe how banking processes, insurance coverage, and reporting/communication requirements influence fraud containment, recovery options, and long-term control improvements
4:20 – 4:30 p.m. — Closing

4:30 – 5:30 p.m. — Networking reception
