Overview

Sheila has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry.  Professionally, she specializes in serving healthcare providers within hospitals and health networks across revenue cycle operations with a concentration in clinical and financial-management and system optimization, revenue enhancement and revenue recovery services.  She is an accomplished healthcare leader in change management, organizational reengineering, business systems design, and IT system evaluation, selection, and implementation.

Technical Experience

Sheila has worked extensively in the healthcare industry proving leadership experience both traditional "boots on the groundˆ operational roles and as a management consultant driven to improve hospital bottom-line, optimizing effectiveness and efficiency of day-to-day operations and systems, and enhancing employee/management relations. Throughout Sheila's tenure working with healthcare organizations, she has provided executive oversight, project management and delivery of services across community-based, critical access, academic medical centers, and integrated health networks.  She has demonstrated her knowledge and leadership abilities while working with health systems, Big 4 management consulting firms, Information Technology vendors, and as a business owner operating a boutique healthcare consulting company. Significant areas of responsibility included:

  • Served as a strategic leader providing business insight on all aspects of Revenue Cycle Services that include: Patient Access, Eligibility Enrollment, HIM Operations, Coding, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Revenue Integrity, and AR Operations
  • Served as Interim Senior Director, Revenue Cycle for an academic physician led medical group practice, with more than 750 providers and 52 medical/surgical specialties
  • Led development and delivery of Middle Revenue Cycle services, to include charge capture, charge description master, revenue integrity, clinical documentation, utilization review, denial management, health information management, and coding
  • Led revenue cycle transformation engagements across complex integrated health networks, with objective of improving cash and hospital bottom-line
  • Led operational and system optimization engagements for pre/post implementation of clinical and/or financial applications
  • Led evaluation, selection, and implementation of multiple electronic medical record and clinic management systems, focusing specifically on data integrity and management

  • Masters of science in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI
  • Bachelors of science in Health Information Management from Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY; credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
