As chair, Dennis looks to uphold solid CPA values and continue the legacy of past CalCPA chairs.
CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen), the eighth largest accounting firm in the United States, is pleased to announce that Tayiika M. Dennis, CPA and principal at CLA’s Century City location, was named Chair of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) State Board.
“To me, CPA doesn’t just stand for certified public accountant — it also stands for the ‘coolest profession around,’” said Dennis. “As CPAs, we can be inspirational trailblazers, earn the public trust, and commit to be objective, diverse, and inclusive. I can’t think of anything cooler than that.”
As Chair, Dennis looks to uphold CPA values such as reliability, inclusion, and innovation, while continuing the legacy of past CalCPA chairs.
“The support from my firm, CLA, in achieving leadership roles within CalCPA is a tremendous factor in my success. We live our purpose at CLA every day, creating opportunities for our clients, our people, and our communities. I’m grateful to work for a firm that allows me to pursue my passions,” continued Dennis.
Dennis took office effective July 28, 2022, for a one-year term. She has been involved with CalCPA for more than 10 years, and most recently served as the First Vice Chair of the State Board. She is also a recipient of the CalCPA Women to Watch Award.
“Tayiika has a legacy of service to her firm and CalCPA,” said Denise Froemming, CPA & CAE and president and CEO of CalCPA. “We look forward to Tayiika bringing her passion for her career and the profession to leading CalCPA in its quest for growth and elevation in mission-critical areas. Her agenda will include aiding the nation’s largest state CPA society in its efforts to change perceptions about accountants and accountancy, elevate its standing in thought leadership, and enhance programs focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
Kenneth Miles, managing principal of CLA’s Century City location, shared, “I congratulate Tayiika on this well-deserved role, which comes after many years of dedicated service to CalCPA. With Ty as Chair, CLA is positioned at the forefront with regard to the important decisions that CalCPA makes affecting the accounting profession. Dennis has more than 20 years of experience in both public accounting and private industry. She provides audit and tax services for nonprofit organizations, with a special focus on social service organizations, arts and cultural organizations, and private foundations. Prior to joining CLA, she worked at a large international CPA firm, a regional CPA firm, and at Universal Studios as a financial analyst. Dennis received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angles (UCLA).
