CLA’s Katherine Kress and Justin Henry have been honored with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Elijah Watt Sells Award.
CLA, ranked as one of the nation’s top 10 certified public accounting and consulting firms, announced today that two of their professionals, Katherine Kress and Justin Henry, have been honored with the Elijah Watt Sells Award, given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
The Elijah Watt Sells Award recognizes CPA candidates who:
- Obtain a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination
- Pass all four sections of the exam on their first attempt
Kress is an Associate in the Appleton, Wisconsin office. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin — Oshkosh with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting. When asked if she has any secrets to her success, Katherine shared, “I treated my studying like a job, forcing myself to stay organized, focused, and sticking to the deadlines I created for myself … I pretty much made studying my life, knowing that a few difficult months would mean never having to study for these exams again.”
Justin Henry is an Associate in the Madison, Wisconsin office. He is a graduate of University of Wisconsin — Whitewater with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and a masters of professional accountancy. “I didn’t have any secrets or anything like that,” says Henry. “I just studied hard, as I knew I only wanted to take each exam once. I just did what Becker [CPA Exam Review] told me to do.”
The Elijah Watt Sells Award was established by the AICPA to recognize outstanding performance on the Uniform CPA Examination. Of nearly 86,000 candidates who took the exam in 2018, 110 received the award.
