Mark Colvin

Overview

With more than 31 years of experience, Mark has an extensive background in capital projects and fixed asset management. Mark has budgeted and overseen implementation of multi-million dollar capitalization projects. His background also makes him uniquely qualified to find solutions that would directly benefit shareholders and management.

As the regional leader of CLA's Eastern Midwest and Midwest Regions of the Federal Tax Strategies Team, Mark's responsibility includes overseeing several inter-related tax products including:

  • Repairs & Maintenance Studies (Tangible Property Regulations)
  • Fixed Asset Depreciation Studies
  • Cost Segregation Studies
  • Commercial Energy Efficient Building Deductions (IRC 179D)
  • New Home Energy Efficient Credit (IRC 45L)
  • Research & Development Tax Credit Studies
  • Fixed Asset Management and Capitalization Policy
  • Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Prior to joining CliftonLarsonAllen, Mark spent five years in a mid-size customer relationship management corporation as the Corporate Controller, where he was responsible for managing all aspects of the organizations accounting functions. One of Mark's major achievements was implementing a complete financial system conversion. In addition, Mark also held previous positions of assistant controller, director of operations and accounting, and general manager for large hospitality management companies.

Mark is an Enrolled Agent and authorized to practice before the Internal Revenue Service without restrictions. Mark graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors of Science in Finance and Accounting. Mark has also received his M.B.A. from Aspen University in Colorado. Mark is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the Illinois CPA Society
