Monaghan Group Now Known as CLA CAST; Leary Named CLA Charlotte Leader
Charlotte — January 5, 2015 — CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA), a national professional services firm, has tapped a new managing principal for its Charlotte office. At the same time, the firm is preparing to expand the services offered by Monaghan Group nationwide.
Jen Leary has been named managing partner of the Charlotte office. Leary had previously served as a national transaction support principal and a national leader in the firm’s global services team.
CLA is one of the largest professional service firms in the United States offering integrated services in wealth advisory, outsourcing, and public accounting. The firm acquired Monaghan Group in 2013, and it has operated as a division of CLA since that time. In anticipation of taking its business model to other CLA offices nationwide, Monaghan Group will now be known as CLA Custom Accounting Solutions Team (CAST).
“Being involved in what comes next for our business as we take the model to other regions of the country is very gratifying ... I am humbled and so appreciative of the support from the North Carolina business community throughout the last two decades, and look forward to being able to help our clients wherever they have a need for a Custom Accounting Solutions Team in the future.” Beth Monaghan
CLA partner who founded Monaghan Group
CLA CAST will offer the same services for which Monaghan Group is well-known in North Carolina — experienced CPAs meeting the interim, part-time or project-based accounting needs of public and private companies. Its clients include 85 percent of North Carolina’s Fortune 500 companies. In addition to Charlotte, Monaghan Group has practices in the Triad and Triangle areas which will now become CLA CAST offices as well.
“We are taking a business concept that originated in Charlotte to other business centers across the country as CLA CAST, all while we are building and growing our presence in Charlotte ... We have high expectations for the expansion of CLA CAST as well as the future of our Charlotte office.” Denny Schleper
CLA chief executive officer
Schleper noted that Leary will bring energy to the more than 160 professionals in the Charlotte office while providing engaging leadership. Leary succeeds John Berens who has been promoted to a national tax leadership role covering the East Coast. He will also continue to concentrate on his Charlotte-based taxation practice, focusing on closely held, international, and private equity backed businesses.
Leary’s career has provided her the opportunity to serve on more than 100 unique transactions. The M&A Advisor, renowned globally for its recognition of leading M&A, financing, and turnaround professionals, named Leary one of its 40 under 40 in 2014. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in accounting and management information systems.
