MNCPA Honors CLA’s McElroy for Distinguished Service
Minneapolis — September 30, 2014 —The Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) recognized Charles J. McElroy as the recipient of its 2014 Distinguished Service Award at the Celebrate CPAs Awards Luncheon on September 25. McElroy is chief quality officer at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA). Considered the highest award given to an MNCPA member, the Distinguished Service Award honors individuals for their exceptional leadership and contribution to the society and the accounting profession.
“Participating in the MNCPA has helped me in my personal and professional development,” says McElroy. “I really appreciate the relationships I’ve built through the society, and it means a lot to be recognized by my peers in the profession.”
McElroy has been a member of the MNCPA for 35 years. He received his CPA certification in 1979 and began volunteering at the society two years later. His leadership record includes chairmanships with the Peer Review Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the MNCPA Board of Directors. McElroy currently chairs the PAC Board of Trustees and has played an instrumental role activating the MNCPA PAC. Overall, McElroy has served on 13 committees. He also earned a CPE Instructor Recognition Award and has been published in the society’s magazine, Footnote.
MNCPA serves the public interest by advancing the highest standards of ethics and practice within the CPA profession. The society offers extensive continuing professional education and resources; advocates for members and the public with regulatory agencies and boards; and mentors and encourages the CPAs and business leaders of tomorrow.
“The MNCPA is very valuable network for CPAs in our state. You can pick up the phone and call any CPA in Minnesota or around the country and get help,” McElroy says. “Although we may compete for clients and people, we are truly friendly and professional with each other. I am grateful for this organization and its positive impact on my career and my profession.”
