After 15 years of serving in different capacities for the American Institute of CPAs, Baker joins the board to continue helping shape the accounting profession.
Orlando, Florida — October 25, 2016 — Anita Baker, managing principal of CliftonLarsonAllen's employee benefit plan group, has been elected to the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) board of directors effective November 1, 2016, through May 2020.
Baker has been involved with the AICPA for the last 15 years and has served in many capacities, including chair of the executive committee of the employee benefit plan audit quality center, chair of the executive committee of work/life and women’s initiatives, chair of a technical standards subcommittee of the Professional Ethics Executive Committee, and was also an elected member of the AICPA council and nominating committee.
“My history with the AICPA gives me some unique perspectives as we continue to shape the future of the accounting profession,” says Baker.
The AICPA represents the CPA profession in rule-making and standard-setting, and serves as an advocate before legislative bodies, public interest groups, and other professional organizations. The board of directors has 16 members and acts as the executive committee for the governing council, which determines institute programs and establishes general policies. The board meets five times a year, reports to the council, and continually oversees management and organizes the various volunteer committees that report to it. Baker will participate in all of these activities in light of her recent election.
