CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen), one of the leading professional services firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce that Ian Sylvan has joined the CLA investment banking practice as a managing director. He will provide additional senior-level resources to the firm’s investment banking and M&A advisory practice, helping business owners and management teams looking to transition ownership of their business.
Sylvan has in-depth experience working with privately held and financial sponsor-owned companies to assist them in determining and executing the appropriate transaction strategy to meet their objectives, including outright sales, recapitalizations, acquisitions, and capital raising.
“We are excited about the addition of Ian to CLA’s investment banking practice,” said Ben Axelrod, managing principal of CLA’s investment banking practice. “His skillsets in M&A advisory, investment banking, and financing will be great complements to CLA’s current capabilities.”
Sylvan has more than 30 years of M&A advisory, investment banking, financing, and related transaction experience. Prior to joining CLA, he was a managing director with Fifth Third Securities in the investment banking group and was a managing director and head of the M&A Advisory Group at MB Financial Bank prior to its acquisition by Fifth Third. In these roles he executed mid-market M&A advisory and capital-raising transactions, gaining significant transaction experience with mid-market privately held companies, as well as private equity firms.
Sylvan holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and earned his master’s degree in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In addition, he holds the following securities industry designations: Series 7, 79, and 63.
