Jim Merk Joins CLA as Managing Director, Marketing and Brand
Charlotte, NC — CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen LLP), a national professional services firm, is pleased to announce that Jim Merk has joined the firm as managing director of marketing and brand.
Merk has an extensive background in brand marketing, having held leadership positions in large technology companies in the consumer tech and entertainment industries. Most recently he oversaw global branding for e-commerce company Newegg, leading its multinational marketing efforts as the company expanded its global footprint to more than 80 countries.
“Jim brings a great depth of marketing experience that will be a great addition to the team,” says Jen Leary, chief strategy officer at CLA. “The marketplace is evolving. There’s an increased expectation toward a seamless client experience, where your needs are anticipated and opportunities are created for you. That’s what CLA is all about — creating opportunities. I’m excited to have Jim at the helm as we elevate our brand awareness to reflect that purpose to our growing audience.”
Merk is particularly well-suited for the role not only for his marketing proficiency, but also for his extensive background in digital content. He spent eight years of his career growing the digital content arm of Tokyo-based Image KK. During his tenure in the early 2000s, he catalyzed the company’s transformation from print to digital when digital publishing was still in its infancy. Merk’s foresight to identify and harness emerging digital technologies served his companies well over the years and CLA will benefit similarly.
“Jim’s passion for digital marketing will help fuel awareness as we continue to live and share our brand promise — ‘To know you and help you’ — across the world,”says Jackie Kruger, director of marketing communications at CLA. “I look forward to learning from Jim’s deep capabilities and am confident that, along the way, he’ll create inspired career experiences for all of us.”
Merk earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Forbes Executive Communication Council and will work from the firm’s offices in California.
