The IRS and many 403(b) plans are now offering pre-approved plan documents. This gives plan sponsors the opportunity to narrow the gap between 403(b) and 401(k) plan documents and establish similar compliance standards. Plan sponsors must now adopt either prototype or volume submitter plans and have their plan documentation reviewed and submitted prior to March 31, 2020.
Our complimentary webinar explored the 403(b) testing rules, participant notice requirements, and the new prototype documents and their available provisions. We also discussed when a 401(k) plan may be a more suitable option.
