Beginning in 2020, the categorical weight of the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) cost category will be set at ten percent. Packed into the cost data of the Quality Resource Utilization Report (QRUR) are multiple variables that will determine performance within the cost category.

Digging into your cost data will help eligible clinicians understand how they influence Medicare spending at acute and post-acute sites of service, how readmissions affect payment across the care continuum, and how the management of chronic conditions impacts Medicare fee for service payments. This webinar discussed the importance QRUR data has in achieving long-term success in MIPS and beyond.

Learning objectives:

  • Describe the variety of data available in a QRUR
  • Identify how to use a QRUR to identify Medicare patient leakage
  • Determine where interventions may be necessary across the care continuum
  • Recognize Medicare spending by service categories including: chronic care, acute care, specialist care, and post-acute care
