Monica Heyman


Monica is a principal in the Real Estate group at CLA. She has more than 15 years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services for clients with residential, commercial and industrial real estate.  She has extensive experience in partnership taxation and consults with individuals, family groups and owners of closely-held businesses on all aspects of tax planning.

Technical experience:

  • Transaction strategies using IRC Section 1031 like-kind exchange involving multiple-property, forward, and reverse exchanges
  • Tiered partnership structuring
  • Partnership profit / carried interest design structuring
  • Transaction planning and advisory - acquisition, merger, and re-organization
  • Representation with Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board and Departments of Revenue
