Overview
Shelby is currently serving as an outsourced Chief Financial Officer working directly with businesses and their owners to provide executive level CFO services with a focus in manufacturing and distribution. Through this position Shelby helps lead the CLA BizOps team in providing a full suite of services, including:
- Month-end accounting period close and reporting advisory and preparation
- Key metric benchmarking and trend analysis
- Cash flow management and projections
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Financial, business, and strategic planning and implementation
- Leadership team meeting facilitation
- Private equity and debt financing
- Bank financing and investor meeting preparation
- Audit preparation and liaison with audit firm
- Accounting software selection and implementation
- Finance department assessments and improvement plans
- Management of the finance infrastructure (accounting, treasury, finance)
- Inventory management
- Mergers and acquisition support
- Other services provided through the help of the CLA family:
- A complete suite of outsourcing services, including: Short and long-term CFO, Controller, staff accounting positions, payroll processing, state and local tax compliance, income tax planning
- Hands-on guidance during transitions (e.g., medical leave, IPO, business integration, or leadership succession)
- Risk management
- Contract review
- HR support and help desk
- Fund administration, finance, and accounting
Prior to joining CLA Shelby gained experiences in both private industry and public accounting through serving as the Vice President of Accounting and Controller for a fast pace, fast growing, real estate development and student housing management company. Shelby also spent 12 years at a regional Minnesota CPA firm where he provided services to small to mid-market companies in the manufacturing, construction, and agriculture sectors. Services included financial statement audits and other assurance services, business tax, monthly reporting analysis and advisory, and M&A transaction consulting including buy and sell side quality of earnings.
